Songs from Deep in the Vault, Volume 3 is the twenty-seventh album by Moes Haven and the third Songs from Deep in the Vault compilation. It was released on May 28, 2017, the same day as Songs from Deep in the Vault, Vol. 2. It contains 49 tracks and has a run time of 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Like Vol. 2, it features more on the earlier work of Moes Haven. It also features more demos and outtakes from Stromboli’s Alarm Clock, like Vol. 1. Finally, it features rare songs from the early 2000 demo tape Tasteless, released under the band name Scandal.
The cover comes from a screengrab from the 2013 Motern Media film Local Legends, and putting it next to the cover of Vol. 2 forms a complete image.
This was the final Songs from Deep in the Vault compilation; however, Moes Haven would release one more collection of rarities, Unheralded Origins of Genius: Analog Archives 1997-2000, in 2021.
Notes
“Our Troubles May Be Over [Demo 2]” is the second demo of the song “Our Troubles May Be Over” from Stromboli’s Alarm Clock. While the first demo featured solo piano, this one features a single acoustic guitar and Farley vocals.
“Song to J.L.” features Pete Peterson on dual vocals with Matt. Possibly an early Finklestinks song.
“Wait a Minute, Lester” is from the 2001 rock opera The Lester Saga, which remains unreleased wholly.
“Fiasco” is originally from the 1997 original Moe’s Haven, not to be confused with the 2005 album Moe’s Haven.
“He’s Farley and He’s F’n Great” and “What’s So Great About F’n Scalzo” are the two opening tracks from the May 2000 demo tape Tasteless by Scandal.
“Escaping the Family” is the opening track from the original 2004 version of Music for the Final Millennium.
“The Instability of Friends” is from the 2002 album An Art Supreme, that featured songs like “Recognize You” and “Beautiful Cars”.
