The Toilet Bowl Cleaners is a Matt Farley band, created in 2008. Under this pseudonym, he has released 14 albums and one compilation. While Farley is the sole member of the band, in the Motern Media universe, The Toilet Bowl Cleaners are their own entity.
The band’s output focuses almost solely on poop, pee, puke, farting, and other such bodily functions. Because of the subject matter and prolific nature of the band, they often come up first when people search for “poop” on Spotify or ask Alexa to play a song about “poop”. This has led to The Toilet Bowl Cleaners becoming Farley’s most popular band, with multiple songs netting hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of streams on Spotify alone. As of July 2026, “The Poop Song” has almost 7.5 million streams on Spotify, and “Poop in My Fingernails” has 5.8 million streams.
The Toilet Bowl Cleaners are also one of the few Motern Media acts to receive praise from celebrities. Billie Eilish mentioned “The Poop Song” in a 2018 Instagram post (archived here), which directed a heavy amount of traffic and new fans to The Toilet Bowl Cleaners. In 2022, former pro football player AJ Hawk mentioned the band on The Pat McAfee Show, although he misnamed the band as The Toilet Seat Boys.
In the Motern Media universe
The front man of The Toilet Bowl Cleaners is also The Odd Man Who Sings About Poop, Puke and Pee, who began a separate poop-related act in order to compete with his other band.
The Toilet Bowl Cleaners celebrated much success from their music. However, in July 2014, they released their tenth album Never Gonna Flush Again, and on the title track (the last on the record), they announced they were quitting the poop song business. Farley later announced via Twitter that Never Gonna Flush Again was the band’s final album. However, the band returned one month later with Mature Love Songs, a No-Jokes record, on Singing Animal Lover Music. This was in solidarity with The Singing Animal Lover, who had left Motern Media because Farley had given his Animal Poop Songs idea to The Odd Man Who Sings About Poop, Puke and Pee without his permission. Therefore, it is assumed that The Toilet Bowl Cleaners were without their usual front man during this pugnacious period.
When Mature Love Songs failed critically and financially, the band returned to Motern Media, apparently patched things up with their front man, and went back to writing poop songs and other toilet-related material. In 2016, they released the highly acclaimed Poop Oh Yeah! Poop Yes! Uh Huh! Poop!
The band released the Emergency Poop EP in 2018, after which they went on a long hiatus. During this time, The Odd Man Who Sings About Poop, Puke and Pee began to release multiple albums of Name Poop Songs, which are songs where lyrics consist solely of a name and the word “poop” repeated in various fashions. He would continue this project at a prolific pace, even while recording with The Toilet Bowl Cleaners. Ultimately, he would release 81 Name Poop albums totaling 4,059 songs.
Despite news that the band was working on a new album in 2020, the songs were shelved while The Name Poop Song project was taking up much of The Odd Man Who Sings About Poop, Puke and Pee’s time. However, the band would return in January 2021 with the single “Poop Fields Forever”. They would release another single, “This Poo Kinda Smells Like Stew”, in October 2021.
In 2022, the band took the songs they intended for their 2020 album and hastily released them under the name The Toilet Seat Boys, in order to cash in on AJ Hawk’s misnomer on The Pat McAfee Show.
Around 2011, the band distributed some promo CDs titled Greatest Poop, Puke, and Pee Songs! No known copies are available. In April 2025, the band released another compilation, The Best of the Toilet Bowl Cleaners, containing 24 of the band’s most popular tracks. The collection was only released on vinyl.

In 2023, the band released a book of their lyrics, The Selected Works of The Toilet Bowl Cleaners.
